"Mornington Crescent" - I win! I win!

by neilb@uk In reply to Outlook Express

Normally, I wouldn't explain the strategy but, as you're mostly foreigners, I was playing "Finsbury Rules" to make it easy for you all.

Finsbury Rules only apply when playing to the Oxbridge Conventions of.....

Duplexity which were banned at the June 98 Fringe as being too overtly pretentious unless all players agree to dress to asigned roles. A true Mornington Crescent player of note should have been aware of this and the fact that this years themes are that of 18th century Bohemian or Transylvanian eroticism. There was a demand for 16th century but it was felt too many might have tried emulating the former Vlad Dracul, better known as Vlad the Impaler.

For 07 there is a move to adopt the Moorcock Matrix of Multiplicities to add a greater sense of realism and immediacy to the game.

Bugger! How did you know that?

by neilb@uk In reply to Finsbury Rules only apply ...

I thought that I'd surely get away with it amongst this crowd of ex-colonials. OK. I'll play it straight. I could drop you into a Dollis Hill Loop but, here goes...

But, because you're such a smart ba$tard, City Line!

Ha! get out of that!

The source radio programme, I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue, is one of the UK's longest running and is still one of the funniest parodies of a radio quiz that I've ever heard. It's the one program that I always tape and listen to and have done for as long as I can remember.

I'll see if I can track down any recordings on the web. Be interesting to see what some of the Middle america peers make of it.

Believe it or not, Neil

Some of us are reasonably cultured folks. Remember the 2.15%??? Some of that number lurk and post here!

Course, we're hard to see in the crowd of morons that also show up here...

But try. No... really.

Have a great day! :)

Now I really don't think

by neilb@uk In reply to Believe it or not, Neil

that "I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue" has made it across the Pond! I know that you guys are up to speed on Red Dwarf and other TV stuff but BBC Radio Four?

Have a listen and you can either revel in what I think is the funniest radio show I've ever heard or you can say "Unh??". I don't think that there's anything more "British" than ISIHAC.

No offense was intended and if some was taken - tough!

To quote Sir Ralph Hargreaves, "Skeeters and sitch?" You...............

forgot there are variations based on the maps of other places one of them being the Montreal Metro. The game is played bilingually, in both English and French, although English is the language of preference for the resolution of any conflicts in the nonexistant rules.

Kennington??? Kenilworth!

City Line? The Blue line crossed by the Orange Line.

BTW the quote is by either Hargreaves or Burton but I'm almost sure it was the former and for what it was worth, is Shakespearean in nature.

Neil-off your topic and totally lost but

by OnTheRopes In reply to "Mornington Crescent" - I ...

several times I have thought of one thing you might want to see while over here and never been near the stoopid pc. I don't know what kind of music you're into but "The Blue Man Group" plays Las Vegas live. I think they have an awesome must see performance.

There! I finally got that off my chest. My job here is done and I can now die in peace.
