Outlook Web\IE problem

Never seen this before - hope someone has!

I have a brand-new notebook, running Vista Home Premium and IE 7. When I access my work email using Outlook Web Access, I can get my messages as normal. However, when I attempt to compose, reply or forward a message - anything requiring an editor - instead of the normal white edit window, I just get a blue background, with the small red X in a box, as if an image or item is missing. I've looked at all the places I can think of to set the email editor (set as windows, now, I believe).

I'm thinking this is just a setting, or a missing component, but I'm not an IE or Outlook guru.

Any ideas?

Seemed to be an issue on IE7 / vista and not IE7 on XP

I can tell you know there is a patch that needs to be applied to any front end and back exchange servers to cure this. The problem is not the client browser althought on the face of it, it appears to be.

Client-side fix

Since I posted my question earlier, I ran across the explanation, and a client-side workaround, as well as the Exchange server fix.

Vista doesn't support a necessary ActiveX control. Simply selecting 'Basic' client in the Outlook 2003 sign-on screen gives you email edit capabilities, albeit with a rather plain interface.
