Partioning the 13 GB hard drive

Sorry, i forgot to tell you what to do with your C (primary) Partition. Place the pagefile there, thats why i told you to make it about three times the size of your RAM. You can also place some driver etc there which you may need to set up your hardware with (NIC Cards etc). You can use the same pagefile for win98 as well, just edit your [386Enh] section of your system.ini file and add the name of the file:

PagingDrive=C:
PagingFile=pagefile.sys

Also be sure to install windows98 BEFORE winNT, that way nt's boot manager will be correctly installed

Hi,

I think it's more important also to consider whether or not you are going to share data between NT and 98 applications. If sharing is equally important, DOS FAT16 partition is accessible to both NT & 98 file systems. However you also have to accept the fact that DOS partition is limited to 4GB. For security-sensitive data files, use NTFS since this allows you file-level security. Unfortunately, WIN98's FAT32 file system is not the same as NTFS' file system.
Here's my suggestion:
1. Create a FAT16 4GB partition and install DOS/WIN98.
2.Once WIN98 is installed, install NT and let it intall to a new partition, 4GB (limit for SP4).
3. You can create the remaining 5GB either in WIN98 FAT32 data partition or NTFS FAT32.

IF YOU WANT TO DO MULTI BOOTING U GOT FIRST
REPARTION THE HARD DISK TO 6 PARTIONS
CUZ. YOU GOT TO HAVE AT MOST 2GB FOR EACH PARTION THEN INSTALL WINDOWS98 FIRST THEN INSTALL THE WINNT ALSO, THE FAT MUST BE TO 16BIT AFTER THIS U CAN CONVERT THE WINDOWS98 TO FAT 32BIT ALSO, THROUGH INSTALLING WINNT U WILL FIND OPTION THAT GIVES U THE ABLITY TO USE MULTY BOOTING. & IT'S BETTER TO BUT EACH WINDOWS IN SPEARATED PARTION

I read an article that mentioned that you should always install windows 98 first and then install windows NT.
This way NT recognizes 98 on boot up.
So make a partition for 98 format it and install 98 in it. Then go on to the installation of NT and continue partitioning as required.

Your answer may lie in the Microsoft web site
www.microsoft.com/technet/winnt4/manuals.Look
up dual booting in chapter 2 or 3.Consider also that a hard drive of this size may include investing in partition magic to create the partitions the size you would like to have. hope this helps
