Password Managers

By jbestor ·
I'm looking for a multi user password manager program for windows that allows you to restrict access to passwords by user and costs less than $50.
Is anyone using anything they like?

When you say that it cost less then 50 dollars do you mean per user or total?

Total, there would only be about 5-10 users.
Thanks for your response.

Not quite what you're looking for

by Tig2 In reply to Password Managers

But close.

I use a tool called Oubliette. It is an open source tool.

Basically, it stores passwords in clear text. The catch is that the developer can't help you if your end user forgets the main password- it is encrypted so drilling into the tool won't allow recovery.

The downside for you is that it is not a single repository for multiple users. Each user would have to install it on each machine. Another downside is that the developer is not supporting the tool any longer- not since 2005.

The upside is that the price is right and the tool works exactly as advertised with the caveat that forgetting the main password is a REALLY bad thing to do.

Might be worth a look.

Thanks, I can't tell from the info if it allows me to restrict access to some passwords per user.

I am looking to be able to install the software on a server and have the users RDP in, run the program, and only see the password I want them to see.

Thanks again

No Multi User

Thanks for the suggestion but from the looks of it Oubliette does not have a multi users interface. Which is my major need.

re: "not a single repository for multiple users"

Could not the manager create each user's password-protected file and store those files on a shared network directory, and thereby achieve the same result as an app designed & marketed for network use?

I have not used oubliette, but it seems to me that the "issue" of use on a network is just one of user training. 5 minutes of less.
