Pentium D Operating Temp?

By dondinger ·
Could somebody tell me the "real life" operating temperature range of a Pentium D 845
processor? When is the processor function affected?
Should the BIOS automatic fan control be adjusted or left on automatic?

If you are using an Intel Chip Set M'Board

It's OK to leave the Fan and safety circuitry on Auto. That way when it reaches the preset Temp it will cut down on the Duty Cycles of the CPU to stop it overheating and if things get really severe it will shut off the computer completely.

If this is in a NB this is the best option as the Air Intakes can get blocked by bits of paper and other things on desks which reduces the air flow to zero so the Auto Setting should allow for the best available performance and not allow any damage to be suffered by the CPU.
