PowerEdge 600SC error says no operating system found, after ubuntu install

By mnewbegin ·
I have recently had an old PowerEdge 600SC become available; it used to run NT 4. I am attempting to install Ubuntu 7.04 Server on it.

The first problem I had was the hard drives were not being found. There is a ATA-100 Host bus Raid adaptor installed which I unhooked, and used primary hard drive 1 and secondary for CDROM and Third, yes third IDE for the 2nd hard drive. Should this card be supported in linux and if yes with what driver, I believe I tried them all

I have 2 barracuda 40 GB drives which were setup in there for raid 1 mirrored.

So now the current setup is, straight to the board.

Ubuntu installs, finishes, ?I don?t know whether it even asks to install GRUB or LILO to it?

But now it comes up missing operating system.

I also had a problem with the PXE boot program but disabled that so it would not try to boot from the network to install an operating system.

Over the long run of this project I am trying to get a internal mail server running that will be a replacement for the users of my network here

Any help would be appreciated.
