Prejudice Towards Military

By IT & Telecom Guy ·
My boss (and place of business) do not like to hire the military. I have witnessed many acts of prejudice against veteran's where I work. Three exapmles; 1). I am a 20+ year Armed Forces veteran and when I went to my much younger boss to justify why I thought I deserved a raise, he mentioned that I had a monthly retirement check, therfore I wasn't a needy as others in department. 2). A coworker who is a Guard member was called to active duty to support the war with Iraq for 6 months. They gave his job to someone else. When he returned they gave him an "equal" job that noone wanted and could not keep filled (he later left the buisiness). 3). A coworker who is also Guard had to serve his active traing committment. Since his return, he's been harassed by co-workers about his "vacation" and his boss told him he would never hire another military member.
Does anyone else have a boss that's hostile towards the military?

Sounds like you work for a cheep a*s unpatriotic sob.

1. Is in poor form, and may be grounds for an EEOC claim if other workers with equal or lesser job performance are getting raises.

2. Sounds like they conformed to the minimum "letter of the law". But, not the spirit of the law.

3. Is totally uncalled for.

The company I work for adores veterans. If you are a veteran, or a Guard member, you are apt to be hired over someone with no military experience.
When a Guard member returns from deployment, their service and contribution is celebrated.

If you can substantiate your claims, I would line up a new job, then go public by taking your information to the local newspaper or TV station.

Is the company as cheap and vindictive in other areas?
If so, get out before the stress of working for an employer who does not share your values destroys your health.

Like Joseph Moore, I think this situation is deplorable.

I will also post a question to provide another 10000 points for your efforts.
