I have a Compaq Presario Notebook (1610) running Windows 98se. Problem is, sometimes when it starts up, I see the screen "Starting Windows 98"), but it doesn't boot up. The hard drive
spins (powers) down and I hear the drive "seeking" (or stuck and
can't go beyond) something. Then it spins up trying to boot.
Regardless, this cycles (spins up and down) without the computer
booting up. I can access the drive in Safe Mode and have checked
it for errors (are none). What I have to do is reinstall Windows
98se, which is time consuming. When viewing the boot log, I see
it stops at checking various fonts in the registry (don't know if
this is a clue). Also think that it may or may not have to do
with bookmarks in Outlook Express accounts.Have no other
problems with the hard drive or accessing programs in DOS. Any
help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
