Problem installing new video card

By jburke1 ·
I have a Compaq SFF Deskpro EN (ENS/P866/15e/6/128c US) system with a integrated Intel 3D DVM video. I am trying to install a new Sapphire Radeon 9200se PCI video card, but after installing and rebooting the PC will not boot up, not even to BIOS setup.
Its running WXP SP2, I have tried uninstalling the Intel s/w and still wont recognize the card.
Have also tried disabling the device, but still freezes up on boot.
What am I missing????
Jerry

Hi

A friend of mine had a Dell machine with on-board graphics. He wanted to upgrade to a better graphics card so he could play the more demanding (and therefore, more fun) games.

We installed the new card (also a PCI) and the machine would not boot at all - just as you are describing. Removing the card allowed the machine to boot once more. After taking it to a repair shop (who could not install the card either), he rang Dell and was told that the machine was not designed to be upgraded.

Is this the case with yours also?

Good luck

Uninstall all video drivers. After shutting down, physically pull the video card, replace it, then reboot. Let the driver install as just a plain vga driver. Then go to settings, advanced, adapter, and click on "change". Click on "add new hardware." Follow the directions, untill you get to the part where you pick the device, and put, "have disk". with your disk in the drive, point the computer to the right path, and install your drivers. Reboot. Good luck bev

Are you sure there is no option in the BIOS to disable the integrated graphics card?. Even in the advanced options?
