Problem w/ Log off current user on Win2K

I am having problems with the log off current user on Windows 2000.

When I try to log off the current user and logon as administrator the computer ask the "Do you want to logoff" question, I answer yes, then just shows the background and never comes back with the logon screen. I then have to hard boot the PC.

I am having this probem on multiple machines because this is a Ghosted image. The PC's lock up even if the user has no applications running.

I do not know if it is a good ideea to put the same image on multiple machines because each machine should have its own SID. This could cause the hung up problems.
Another thing you should check for is users account size. If you have large accounts it could explain the very long logoff times, even hungups.

If you changed the domain and then put the ghosted images back then this is another problem. rejoin the new domain, if applicable, if not ... I do not know.

We use Microsoft SysPrep, which generates a unique SID for each system. A script changes the machine name and adds to the domain.

It happens with all accounts even newly created ones.

Do you have this problem on the original machine from which you created the ghost image? Its the hardware different? If so, it could be a hardware or driver issue. Do the machines hang up when you tell them to shut down or only when logging off?

I don't know if the original machine had the problem. The ones being ghosted are the same model, memory, processor, hardware etc.

The machines hang up when the user has the workstation locked and you try to logon as an administrator. You get the "This will log off the current user. Any unsaved work will be lost." After you click yes it just goes to the background and never brings up with the Logon screen.
