PROOF of climate change & Planet Destruction - WE'VE GONE TOO FAR

By maxwell edison ·
.
Okay, now they've done it! I'm now on-board with the save-the-planet-from-destruction zealots. You now have me on your side. You converted me. I just can't take this anymore.

Now those villainous Republicans, LED BY THAT NO-GOOD, PLANET DESTROYING, GEORGE W. BUSH - are exporting, or should I say out-sourcing, our planet destruction.

MARS IS EXPERIENCING CLIMATE CHANGE!

Destroying the earth is one thing, but now we've started to DESTROY MARS with our climate changing, planet destroying life-styles. It's just the Americans, however, so the rest of the earth's population is free from blame. We are destroying Mars all by ourselves, undoubtedly another result of those status-symbol seeking, planet destroying, SUV owners.

Now we've really done it. I hope the Martians don't get pissed off and invade Earth over this.

You're on!

Though I suspect we'll both be knocking on a bit - I'll be over 80 - so we'd better agree to drink American Budweiser rather than beer. And we'd better find a seat in the bar close to the Gents...

Pushing up daises in 20?

20 push-ups IN the daises, perhaps. Or maybe In Daisey. I've got another 50 in me -- at least.

I've heard that argument before

...that you'd love to be wrong, but what IF?

The seriousness of the claim warrants immediate and drastic action EVEN IF IT'S WRONG!

Sorry, that bird won't fly.

It'a all about money; and it'a all about control. No more, no less.

All or nothing

by neilb@uk In reply to I've heard that argument ...

I think that we've done this one - the SUV thread and others.

I do think that the seriousness of the claim warrants immediate action but not necessarily drastic as trying to force drastic action on the US will likely result in you doing nothing!

I think that we need to do something. I do agree that we need to tailor a response so that the cure is not more harmful than the disease. Economic meltdown will harm or kill a lot of western citizens quickly whereas the worst case of warming will kill a lot of the Thrid World later.

Where drastic and immediate comes in is in terms of further research onto the validity or otherwise of the arguments funded by non-partisan sources and carried out by eminent and respected scientists to get us an unimpeachable conclusion. We need to know and know soon.

What I'm not sure of is whether the US political system and its vested interests (oil, industry) will allow that type of research and its conclusions if they don't like them!

"It's all about money; and it's all about control. No more, no less." I think that there's a little more to it than that but I think that your comment might apply more over your side of the Pond than elsewhere!

That's my beef neil

by Oz_Media In reply to I've heard that argument ...

Bush has agreed that it is a situation worthy of investigation. He finally sided with the G8 leaders this year, when they suggested more studies need to be conducted to determine the amount of impact we have on GW.

Then he dropped the ball, he supported further testing, but not in the USA. THAT's pathetic, and yes as you say it is 100% money, control and maintaining secure relationships. Bush won't be presidet forever (phew) he's gonna need a few good friends when his term is up, make that a LOT of friends.

Like those guys 30 or so years ago

by TonytheTiger In reply to You've been SOoooo Duped

who said we were headed for another ice age :^)

Oh, and Science is a lot like the press. THey have a built-in bias. They HAVE to predict doom and gloom. After all, if nothing is wrong, why spend money researching it?

Collapse -

oh yes...that's totally the case

by jck In reply to Like those guys 30 or so ...

And since there's no doom and gloom...we can stop researching cancer and leukemia and AIDS and how to cure influenza as well because that's not doom and gloom, but a natural occurence in nature like the planetary climate change is as well.

yeah...it's all an international conspiracy of incredibly high-paid scientists...trying to take over the world and get all the money through research grants...

And they're led by those guys who are out to get GW...Pinky and The Brain.

I agree

I agree. Mother Nature is trying to defend herself against those pesky humans. So let her. It's all natural, after all. The strong will survive, and the weak will perish. We're just animals after all, with one important difference.... we can be wrong!

the only real difference is

by jck In reply to oh yes...that's totally t ...

not that we can be wrong...animals can be too...proof: deers wandering near homes...they obviously think quiet means safety...that can be wrong.

The real difference is, animals lick parts of themselves most sentient, civilised humans don't (I can't account for nuts or non-modernised tribal folks...never met any).

nonetheless...yeah...I hear...that Pinky and The Brain...want to rule the world...
