Proxy server problem

By it ·
I have a windows server 2003 station that is the domain controller on my network. i installed on it 602lansuite as proxy server. now when i put for the users the proxy in the internet explorer and the local are connection settings are all filled correctly without a default gateway, the internet and proxy work fine, but when a users ads the ip of the server as the default gateway and he removes it from the internet explorer options, the internet still works and the proxy is useless the users can access anything they want. any help on that subject ?

Put a group policy in

Put a group policy in to disable the network configurations on the workstations or configure a transparent proxy.

Proxy server problem

by it In reply to Put a group policy in

true that is a way of stopping the problem, but the thing is that, why is this problem happening, why is the server permitting gateway access ignoring the proxy server? as u already read in my previous post they are just simply setting a default gateway, and then the proxy becomes useless, is there anything wrong in the windows server 2003 installation so it is allowing a gateway? the internet connection from the server is not even shared.

Unless you have set an ACL on the gateway to only allow traffic from the proxy, it doesn't know that it's supposed to be denying requests from other clients. You can certainly configure your gateway or firewall to only allow outbound web traffic from the proxy, but I'd still recommend enforcing Proxy setup through GPO and restricting users from changing the network configurations.

What is the path to the internet?

by blackepyon01 In reply to Proxy server problem

I've juggled with similar problems on my setup.
What is the pathway to the internet? The client computer should not have any physical path to the internet other than through the proxy server (ie: server has two network cards, one to LAN and one to router).
