Recovering data from Bad Hard drive

By dwaind ·
I have a 20g HD with Win2K installed that I can
no longer bootup too. I can detect it in BIOS
as a Master or Slave, but
when I boot up using another HD and setting the
bad HD as slave, it's not there when I go to access
it. I read through the doc titled '200 ways to
revive a hard disk', but I couldn't find anything
similar enough to this problem and I don't want
to start trying every little thing if I don't have
too. Any other detailed suggestions would be
appreciated. I just need some files off of it, I
don't need use it anymore.
Thanks
Dwain

If you used NTFS, then ignore the people wanting you to copy command.com, io.sys ...

Make a boot disk form another machine with NTLDR, NTDETECT.com, HAL.DLL... and see if you can get in

or use the original Win2k cd to do a recovery mode and see what it says

If you used NTFS, that would do a fat lot of good anywayor use the original Win2k cd to do a recovery mode and see what it says
