By msteyn ·
Is there an industry standard or a recommendation as to how often one should restart a server running windows server 2003?

Generaly users purchse windows 2003 copy for Domain controllar. But they install it in workgroup. After installation if you will not convert it into domain controllar it within one month will restart every one hour.

The purists may say... no server needs to be rebooted. If it needs regular rebooting, then something is wrong with it. Some will routinely reboot a server once a week or once a month. We have a cluster of 8 terminal servers that are rebooted daily. This gets rid of the straggelrs who should have been off by 10pm, and resets teh numerous printing issues we encountered daily over terminal services. I'm looking forward to see any other responses on this issue:)
