SBS2003 upgrade to 2003 Standard R2

By mcantine ·
Can you upgrade from SBS 2003 SP1 to Windows 2003 Standard R2 (not SBS)? What are the steps, or links for information on how to do this and pricing.

Yes but it will most likely be expensive and lack some items

That you where previously using.

2003 Standard Server doesn't come with everything that SBS Server comes with so you'll most likely need to shell out for the extra software that you got with SBS and depending on M$ interpretation of things you may need to replace every CAL Terminal Service License as well.

You can ring M$ on one of the phone numbers listed here by choosing your country and clicking on go

Ask for Upgrade options and see what they have to offer that may suit your needs.

Yes this can be done easy enough

First upgrade to R2 then purchase Transition Pack licenses to upgrade to Server 2003 R2. After you receive the TPs call MS to get the Media kits. The TP are very inexpensive and well worth the price.

Check out this website for possible problems or concerns.
