"secret" updates?

By catseverywhere ·
I recently saw an article (or blog?) here that stated Microsoft has admitted it does not reveal all the updates it is pushing on you.

I have been searching, googling all manner of word combos but can't come up with it.

Anyone have a link?

I had it before, but Mandriva gave me a lot of grief on this machine, took 11 tries to get it right. (old laptop) Anyway, one of the times it was a sudden, destructive exit and I lost bookmarks.

I'd strongly recommend Firefox. Not only should the same problem be avoided in future, but it also allows you to restore the last session exactly as it was if it closes abnormally for any reason. An excellent browser!!!

It also lets me use Google, which IE hasn't since I upgraded to the latest version, it just crashes! Has anyone else experienced this?

Well, these are great links and will do... but not the original I had seen. That article gave an example of how someone could find potential exploits with "secret updates" that the white hats wouldn't even think to look for, because, well, they weren't informed of the fact (or nature) of the update.

But these are perfect for what I need; more fodder to tip the scales toward Linux desktops.

Thanks again for the reply,
