By tim.williams ·
Hi there

I have a PC which constantly shuts itself down

I have checked the power management options and the fan and power supply, and these are all ok,

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Tim

hibernation maybe?

by Houndog In reply to Shutdown on own

I know you said you checked the power management options, but did that check include the tab for Hibernate? Is the box checked to enable it? I had that problem on several PCs recently and unchecking "enable hibernation" resolved it. I thought that feature was for laptops, but I've been finding it enabled on desktops as well, and it seems to cause this problem.

mainboard

by Jimc25 In reply to hibernation maybe?

I have had an issue with some of our Dell Optiplexes, the capacitors on the mainboard swelled causing all sorts of shutdowns, so in addition to the other suggestions (safe mode, memory etc) take a look at the mainboard and see if anything looks unusual.
