Site-ings: Tuning up for Windows 2000

By bentnail ·
Windows 9x has the ability through MSCONFIG to allow the removal of items from the systray. I have noticed however that Windows 2000 is without this capability.
Is there an easy way to prevent applications from running in the systray in Win 2000?

I ran regedit, went to hkey_local_machine,software,microsoft,windows,current version, run and left value blank for each key that corresponded to programs i don't want running at startup (and in the systray). Rebooted and haven't had any problems yet.I did not delete the keys --just left them blank.
