SiteAdvisor finds Spyware websites on google search

By Dr Dij ·
Someone mentioned SiteAdvisor in a discussion. I didn't think much about this till I saw mention again in Yahoo news article. This little gem does what I've been suggesting for quite a while, showing you where spyware websites are so you can avoid them. It would be neat if they'd take it one step further and actually block them.

Unlike spy-blaster or one of those that sends a static list to your PC, it checks their db each time during searches and puts green checkmark (ok) or red X (for bad) by sites that have spyware.

You can opt in for anonymously participating: if you do it sends to them websites you visit so it can re-test them more frequently based on sum total counts of those who visit those sites. So a popular site that adds spyware will get detected quickly.

I'm not sure if it actually detects spyware in your browser, so you still need your anti-spyware progs, but this can keep you away from the sites that try to break thru your defenses.

It would be neat if spyware-blaster and others reported attempted spyware uploads from all installed PCs instead of just siteadvisors servers re-testing sits. Integrate spyware defenses and real time blackhole list which the site advisor is, kind of.

Anyway, I just wanted to write this up so others can find user for this to help avoid the nasties. If you have any comments or know in more detail how it works would appreciate knowing.
