Somebody please shut this man up!

http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/01/05/robertson.sharon/index.html

Pat Robertson suggests that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.

This man makes every American and Christian look bad every time he opens his mouth.

When will God smite HIM for being an idiot?

Pat Robertson needs to retire

by AV . In reply to look at who it is making ...

He is way over the top and needs to try to cultivate Christian values instead of hatred. I think most people are turned off by what he has to say. I look at him as a Christian Fundamentalist of the fire and brimstone kind.

Regardless though, of what he is, I share your concern of who are the media people that allow Pat Robertson to be newsworthy and why? I'm not sure if its greed or power.

Personally, I don't care about Streisand's political views, I just want her to keep singing. Sure, idiots can sing, but they don't sing like Barbara Streisand.

Media Wh0re

by mjwx In reply to While I don't agree with ...

This guy is what we here in Australia call a ?Media Wh0re? which simply means he will say anything to get his face on the TV. He wants attention even if it is negative attention (if he was 50 years younger his doctor might have put him on Ritalin).

I generally try not to listen to religious people. I don?t want someone telling me that everything I do is wrong (this comes shortly before the ask money for salvation). I hate preaching so feel free to ignore anything I have to say (as I think it was JD who pointed out) it is your right, in fact I would invite you to ignore my opinions on religion.

Now before this devolves into a religious bashing I don?t really care what other people believe until they try to shove it in my face. Don?t preach to me and I won?t point out the flaws in your religion. I have my beliefs and other people have theirs and IMO never the twain should meet.

This would probably extend into an argument about how I believe religion should be separate from governance but that?s a story for a different thread.

P.S. with all the gun deaths in the US you think someone who deserves it like Barbara Streisand would have been hit by now?

Basicly correct

by jdclyde In reply to Media Wh0re

Some people should be ignored. Some should be confronted. KKK members find themselves NOT publicly welcome in most parts of the world NOW. Some speech should be frowned on, and they are a perfect example. Religious people are definately to be ignored when/IF they go off like this.

As for Streisand, some people are alive today simply because it is illegal to kill them. That, or they have really good body guards.

You will see many "gun deaths" are related to "the war on drugs" and relationships gone bad.

If they weren't killed with a gun, they would have been killed with a knife or like in the paper yesterday, beating to death his girlfriend with a baseball bat because she wanted to leave him.

It is the people that are the problem. Need chlorine in the gene pool over here!

I agree with you on all three....

by azul In reply to While I don't agree with ...

and I might add a few. What has got me steamed is he acts as though he is speaking FOR God.

He and I are both Christians, in some sense, but the God I know and commune with is not the God he seems to be speaking for.

I am all for opposing opinions, I don't learn or stretch my understanding nearly as much from people I always agree with.

IF he would leave God out of it, I wouldn't care what he said.

The way I handle this

is to change the channel.

Politics, I will listen to even crazy maxine out in CA because it affects my life on what nutjobs are trying to do to the country.

What Robertson says doesn't affect me or my life in any way, at any time.

Pat Robertson is an opportunist

by AV . In reply to Somebody please shut this ...

He'll say anything to make money. There are some people that listen to him, but it certainly doesn't reflect the other 98% of us in America.

I just don't think his views should be given such notoriety. There are other Evangelicals that are popular, but I don't see their opinions aired on CNN on matters like this. Why? Pat Robertson is probably paying for the privilege. I can't think of any other reason why well known, credible networks like CNN even mention his name.

Are you serious?

by M_a_r_k In reply to Pat Robertson is an oppor ...

You think that Pat Robertson pays CNN to air his wacky opinions? Pat Robertson's opinions get aired on TV because he's a well-known guy. If you or I or any other nobody says something stupid, it won't be aired on TV. When Pat Robertson or Jesse Jackson or Jessica Simpson say something stupid, it will get aired on TV.

but not in the same way

by jdclyde In reply to Are you serious?

JAckson and sharpton will not have the BAD things aired on CNN, only what is concidered favorable to push their crooked agendas.

Robertson will only have unfavorable things shown to discredit him and all of Christianity.

Jessica Simpson ONLY says things that are stupid, but because she is hot she is news. People love to watch a classic example of the dumb blonde steriotype. (remember the Chicken of the sea ordeal?)

I hate to say this but

by M_a_r_k In reply to but not in the same way

Jackson and Sharpton are probably given a kid-glove treatment compared to Robertson. There's an obvious reason for that but I don't dare say it. I will only say that it is more politically correct to villify certain people than others.

"Is this chicken, what I have, or is this fish? I know it's tuna, but it says 'Chicken by the Sea.'"
- Jessica Simpson

"Wal-mart... do they like make walls there?"
