SQL Replication error

By mrushing ·
Just set up a merge replication from SQL Enterprise ManagerSQL7 on NT4 and keep getting an error with the initial snapshot application saying the timeout has expired while trying to prepare one of the tables for replication. Retries 10 times and quits. It gets through one table and then always dies after waiting 10 minutes on the second. I am very much a beginner with SQL. Thanks in advance. Check Your Tables Structure.
Are you replicating all the colums or part of the table?
We have a similar problem a few months ago and found that SQL 7 had a prblem when you replicate a numeric filed followed by a text field, This only happens whenyou are replicating a part of the table

BTW, if you don't get an answer that fixes your problem, you might want to check the SQL 7 discussion list at SWYNK.COM and the SQL Admin List at Sunbelt Software. You can find the links to both in a list of resources I've compiled for studying forthe MCSE and MCDBA...

Thanks,
Jeff

Go to event viewer. Note subject and error #. If there is nothing under subject, find the subject in the details pane. Then aquire a technet cd. Type in <subject> <error #> in search. The results will go into great detail about your problem. It's the best info. If it's not in technet, the only other solution is to call Microsoft. Technet will solve 98% of your error codes. Since Microsoft charges 1K/hour, technet is the better solution. Hope that helps.
