    Strange server issue?

This may a little ridiculous problem..

    But anyway:

I have a new dual Xeon server running 2000 server which has been running smoothly since its inception. I’ve realized that everytime I attempt to remove a program and/or open a folder, it hangs up and will not respond. I have 1 gig of DDR so I would think the memory wasn’t an issue. I’ve ran virus scans, defragged the drives and checked the event log…

    No luck! Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance…

    C

Have you check event viewer? Does it report anything specific?

I justrealized that the issue is only when clicking on add/remove programs….

It either will not open or will take about 10 minutes and once opened it will time out.

Is the latest service pack (Win2K SP3) installed? If no, install it; if yes, reinstall it. Lots of 3rd party programs installed? If so, I’d start uninstalling things to see if one of them has somehow hung the Windows installer in some odd state that might cause this to happen. Does rebooting change anything? Just some suggestions to troubleshoot – this is obviously one of those things that are pretty hard to put a finger on. Good luck!

The problem is that I can NOT unistalll services! Yes, SP3 is loaded and all other updates are up to spec. Robooting does not help at all…. The system has been sewpt for viruses, with none found.

        Thanks
