By nuttyone ·
I am running windows 98, and wanted to upgrade to XP. I reformatted, reinstalled 98, and proceeded to upgrade, but now it says my modem can't be found. What now?!

Check first that the modem card at HCL if it is compatible to XP. Win2k and WinXP are not so good on EISA cards... they prefer pci card. If it is compatible it might be your driver and the other thing is the resources... check the IRQ conflict

don't bother even to try and find out, if its a pci
modem just get a new one , the time involved
in finding out why the old doesn't work don't
justify the time.

Make sure you have the correct drivers for it. Yeah you would think XP would have the drivers, but I think I would go to the manufacturers website and get the latest and greatest drivers for the modem!
Good Luck
