so, WHO do you stick by?

by jcmeredith In reply to In Oz's world

If you are not an American, then you came from somewhere else - looking for a better opportunity I am guessing. Isn't interesting how America absorbs so many people these days who get here, get settled in, then start to actively speak out against the political systems and and the market-based, corruption-free economy which drew them to America in the first place? I have lived overseas and I would trade Bush for any other leader of the Free World. Would you rather live in Mexico or Canada? France or Germany? Unemployment is twice as high and the opportunity to get ahead economically is much, much lower. It's nice that you are interested in the world around you, but don't make the mistake of detesting a leader who who has done more to expand the personal freedoms of people all over the world (including YOU) than any U.S. leader since Ronald Reagan.

Actually I think my main problem is keyboarding skills. My fingers are all over the place, I type the right side with my right hand and left with left but as far as fingering technique, when it comes to a keyboard, I'm all thumbs.

I had the same issue when learning piano and synthesizers, except with a piano, the correct notes still get hit but with the wrong fingers (according to my first teacher anyhow).

That's why I 'orpha nletters' 'ad' miss N's a lot.

As for English, I was always top of the class as far as spelling and vocabulary were concerned, then I learned all the Canadan swaer words ad slang, from there it went downhill.

Like my mother always says, "you should move back home(UK) and learn to speak again!"

Have a good weekend Garion,

Search changes, too

by sMoRTy71 In reply to TECH REPUBLIC FINALLY DID ...

Glad everyone likes the "edit" functionality.

BTW, we also added the ability to search within discussion topics and within individual threads.

Location of search tools & edit post

by sMoRTy71 In reply to Duh...

The search changes are within the Search interface that sits just under the "Discussion Center" header near the top of the left column.

When you are on the Discussion home page, the pulldown menu says "in Discussion Center"; however, as you drill down into the Discussion Center, the search scope gets more narrow too.

For example, if you are within a thread, the pulldown menu will default to "in this thread" (with the options to search "in this topic" or "in the Discussion Center"). This is helpful in really long threads where you are interested in finding specific information.

The Edit Post functionality is only visible when you are viewing a post that you created. In that case, you will see an "Edit Post" button next to the "Post a Reply" button.
