In ten words or less, complete the following sentence: “Internet Explorer 7 is…”
I’ll start with “…the best imitation of Firefox I’ve seen in a while.”

I tried IE 7 for a couple of hours this week and realized they had just ripped off the features I like about FF — tabbed browsing and RSS reader.
What I love is when IE users claim IE 7 is so innovative. It’s really just an endorsement of FF.

by sleepin’dawg · about 17 years, 11 months ago
In reply to You took mine, Jay!
I’ve never seen a beta quite like this fast, secure, glitch free and with Bit Torrent built right in. You no longer need a client like Azureus and to top it off it seems to run faster. I’ve been using Opera 8.54 off and on but this just blows me away. I’ve never seen such a clean beta version of anything like this is. I am still evaluating it but so far, I have not seen one hiccup and that has been since the 23rd. I open Opera intending to try it for only an hour but hen end up using it all day for everything. Some beta; some browser. Try it, you’ll like it.

IE 7 is more buggy than a Firefox Alpha release.
I’ve had so many strange things happen running the IE 7 Beta’s that it is obvious that Microsoft does not have a clue on how to test software.
IE 7 has locked up in ways that Firefox never has.

Same old settings since IE4 nothing changed it’s not secure, I “ipgraded” a test box that I tweaked the security settings for, and lo and behold the “upgrade” to 7 put those settings back down to the same old defaults. I even posted a complaint to MS and their response was:

MS has some great ideas in IE, they just get overly ambitious and release insecure code. If a technology introduced by IE survives a year without being exploited or creating usability issues, however, I think the W3C should look into the viability of adding it to the next standards RFC.

I have both Firefox 1.0.7 and IE7 on my computer. In comparison, IE7 is clunky and unpolished. The Firefox interface is much more polished. IE7 is like Firefox on thorazine.
– The Firefox tab navigator at the top is better.
– The IE7 toolbars are not flexible.
– IE7 is slower than Firefox

Exactly as with every new piece of sw they release, everything has moved, or has to administered in another way.
And yet it is the move away from Microsoft to anything else that has so steep a learning barrier that it is impossible to do. But when Microsoft desides to create a new menusystem, completely change the administartive panels or create totally different ways of doing things, it’s easy, intuitive and a great innovation – the most misused word on the planet today.

Thanks for letting me know about the problems that you have been having. I am using Firefox 1.5.0.3, and am very happy. Will not even consider downloading IE7 again anytime soon. Guess I will just wait until the ship it with Vista!!!! I had 3 previous crashes trying to download and install the IE7 beta, but sounds like it is not worth it. My Firefox works so smooth, cannot imagine that anything that Microsoft will turn out will make me return to their browser. I was a previous Netscape user. I have IE6 on my computer, but only use it when it is absolutely necessary to view page.

If Vista had of been released on time this is what we would be using now without any choice. 😀
If Vista works as badly as the Beta Version of IE7 then it’s going to be a very long time before it hits the streets and the First Quarter next year seems more than a bit optimistic to me. 😉
