Thunderbird distress

By mcdwillis ·
A couple of years ago I changed from Outlook to T'bird. Have enjoyed and used it since.
Several weeks ago it crashed. I have been to mozillazine and have followed the directions for copying and restoring my profile. I hasn't worked. I find some of the instructions hard to follow, particularly since I'm of the paper vs. on screen generation.
Have looked on the web for other sources of help and have put it on to no avail.
Are there other resources available to me?
Any help appreciated. I miss the e-mails but miss my address book more.

I assume the instructions will be along similar lines to those you already have.

Try Importing from other email

You could try setting up outlook to run again and then import your address book the option is usualy there from what i can remember.
I use windows mail now and i love it so i dont bother with any others but give that a try should work.

Outlook won't import from Thunderbird.

It's not recognized by Outlook as a valid email program. However, Outlook Express can import from Thunderbird, including the address book. Then, uninstall Thunderbird and clean the folders left behind so there's nothing left of it. Once that's done, reinstall Thunderbird and import your mail back from Outlook Express. Long way around to get your emails back, but it works.

another simpler method

make a bacup of the thunderbird address book i think its called abook.mab then re-install thunderbird and replace the address book with original.

Its been a while since using thunderbird so i cant really help beyond that but good luck to him.
