I am assuming that you are talking about the Windows NT Domain name and not the internet domain name (two totally different and unrlated things). It’s not a recommended procedure and is not easy. You can find a technical article (Q178009) on doing it at the Microsoft TechNet site http://support.microsoft.com/servicedesks/technet/, but you do so at your own risk (No support if you screw it up and it doesn’t work). The surefire way to change the domain name is to start over and reinstall the server. Of course that probably isn’t an option since you would have to reconfigure it from scratch.

This one kind of interests me. Why are you changing the domain name? If it is because the company name has changed or something like this, perhaps the question should be — Is it possible to use an alias for the domain name, so that the real domain name doesn’t show to puny users? I don’t have an answer to that, but perhaps restating the question would get you a workable solution.

I just wanted to clarify a little bit .
The PDC or BDC cannot change domains without reinstallation . But a member server or a workstation can become members of a different domain . So you would have to reinstall the domain controllers then you canmake accounts for the clients in server manager and eventually change the domain of the clients . Any other shortcuts can prove disasterous .

I would like to respectfully disagree with the comment posted by ‘Baziite’. While it is not recommended to change the domain name on a PDC or BDC (and officially MS will tell you to reinstall the server software as he says) they do provide the KB article I mentioned above detailing the process. They warn against it, but it can be done.

There seems to be some confusion here regarding domain names. If Microsoft don not recommend changing domain names why is it so simple? What You may be thinking of is the machine role eg: PDC BDC etc you can promote a BDC to a PDC but not demote a PDC to a BDC and you cannot change either to a standalone server. But to change domain names you only have to goto network properties click the Change button on the identification page and enter a new domain name. Then restart the machine. All user info, machine accounts etc are all retained. The only thing you need to do then is to go to every client machine and change the logon domain in the microsoft client settings. I believe SBS uses the machine name for ID not the domain. The only problem would be if SQL and/or Exchange are installed and you would have to rebuild the configuration models for logons etc.
