Tool to break Exchange Replication
Lockedby it’s not easy being green · about 20 years, 7 months ago
Dealing with a recent aquisition, I need to break the MS Exchange Replication from the parent servers from two remote sites. Is there a tool in Exchange to break Exchange replication with out having to rebuild the servers? I am not an Exchange admin and have no experience with it. Please post any available research links.
Thanks~Topic is locked -

SIMPLER-WEBB has an FAQ that may help (5.5, 2000, and 2003 questions are answered).
Look at number 4.3
4.3 Q: How do I remove the ADC after moving all of my users to an Exchange 2000 server?A: First, you need to use the Exchange 5.5 Admin program to delete the directory replication connectors (Org | Site | Configuration | Connections). Once you have deleted the connections, you need to be logged on with an account with Schema Admin privileges to delete the ADC connector.

Okay… This is Exchange 5.5 and we are not updating the Exchange installations, just breaking replication to the old Headquarters.

Do you wish to remove the site from your Exchange organization also? Or do you just wish to stop the replication process between the sites? If you want to remove directory replication with remote sites, try checking the Directory Replication tab under Configuration in Exchange 5.5 Admin. Highlight the replication connector you wish to remove and delete. Or you may have a site connector with remote sites listed in your Connections window instead. Highlight the connector you wish to remove and again hit delete.

In this situtation i would prefer to take a step by step procedure.
1.Stop replication
Find the directory replication connector under
connectors in Exchange admin program & shedule
for nevel replicate.2.Monitor & ensure about the traffic
3.Incase of no requirement for the messages to reach the old head quaters, remove the MTA & delete the directory replication connector.
Note: All the email addresses of old head quaters in the GAB will also be deleted if you delete the directory replication connector.
All the best

Here is the link as you requested that I would most recommend. (all one line, no spaces)
For broader view on that site go up through the folders and you should find just about all the information you will need for helping you with Exchange in your company. Good research!
