Trust: The key to working for a nontechnical boss

By hjaffery ·
The article focused on and gave example of hardware environment. I personally know someone who being a software guy associated with solution providers, is going thru an experience of working with someone who is basically a salesman with no idea on how software implementations are done. Issues like committing resources from customer, formalizing things in writing, limiting our own exposure by not committing to tasks that should be done by the customer are being totaly ignored. The bottom line is that a nontechnical boss can really make not only your life difficult but also end up building a bad reputation for your company specially if you are in a service-giving organization. I believe that in a technical environment, the management should put such a person incharge who knows - if not in details - but atleast the basic issues of project management.
