Depends on your situation.........

Basically, you install UltraVNC on at least two different computers, yours and one other. The one you use will use the will run the viewer. The other computers will run the server. On your computer, you tell it which computer to connect to by IP address.

But, it all depends on your situation. Are you on a LAN trying to connect to other PCs in the same office? Or, are you trying to connect to remote PCs in other offices which MIGHT be behind a different firewall?

UltraVNC - Single Use, Deployment

by mikecollins In reply to UltraVNC

I would imagine most of your replies are going to ask these basic questions.

Are you using this as a one time utility, deploying this on mutliple pc's, or just not sure?

UltraVNC is very easy to setup and install if you have basic pc/network knowledge. You install the server on one machine (The machine you want to remotely control) and the viewer on another machine. (The machine you will use to access the first machine)

Once the server and viewer have been installed, you simply launch the viewer, type in the IP address or name of the machine where you installed the server and your up and running.

There are several things you can do on the server (the machine you want to control remotely) side settings. You can blank the monitor when you connect, you can hide the UltraVNC icon and settings, which keeps the individual using the computer from changing settings.

But some additional info would be helpful in order to give you the best answer.
