Upgrade to Windows 7 with clean install.

By Healer ·
When I have only a Windows 7 upgrade disc not a full version, am I supposed to have a previous edition, be it XP or Vista running before I can upgrade? What if I want a clean install? Can I still in the process choose custom install while using an upgrade disc and choose to format the partition or the hard disc?

Windows 7 upgrade disc has an option to back up the the XP installation or Vista installation and then proceed with Windows 7 installation?

I am only working on one system, so there is no point of using User State Migration Tool. Moreover this Vista has some problems at present including loss of user profile. I intend to do a clean-install to give it a good fresh start.

The Vista system had been upgraded to Windows 7 and has been used for some time. However there are plenty of problems including loss of user profile. so I intend to do a clean install.
