Upgrading from 95 to 98

By adcdesk ·
I received a computer from a customer who wants me to upgrade from 95 to 98. I upgraded the memory from 32 to 64MB pc66. Next I reformatted the hard drive to do a clean install of 98 because this person does not have any of the software for this computer. All I have is Windows 98 for PCs without Windows. Anyway the formatting went find. When I inserted the 98 boot disk, I received an error message saying non-system disk replace and strike any key when ready. Well, I get this error message with the 95 boot disk and when there is not a disk in drive a: I think I need to make an emergency recovery disk and try this. HELP!!!

a.- Bios Boot secuence, doesnot incluede A:
b.- 3,5" floppy unit is damage or disconnected
c.- 3,5" floppy disk is damaged or is not a bootable one

Solutions:
a.- Got to a win98 Pc and format a 3.5" disk bootable. Test the boot secuence in that pc.
b.- Boot your pc with this disk
c.- if not ok, go into bios setup (f10, esc, etc..) and change the boot order to sometinh that includes the a:drive first and try again.
d.- If not Ok, clean the 3.5" unit.
e.- If not ok, replace the 3.5" unit.

hope it helps
