Upgrading SDRAM

By tjandrade ·
I am running an AMD K6-2 450,128MB PC100 RAM,10GB,Windows 98SE.
I have tried every combination and way to upgrade memory.
128MB,32MB,64MB,
OEM,Premium,Mitsubishi,etc.
and memory only records at boot not once I am in Windows.
Why?
Does anyone know??

You haven't tweaked a Compaq by any chance have you? Compaqs are very picky about their RAM and will give all kinds of problems after boot. If it is another motherboard then check the jumpers, upgrade the BIOS, check the mfr website for know issues/workarounds. How much ram is being reported?

This may sound like a silly answer, but I had the same problem with the wife's AMD. When it was factory shipped, some clod at the company had went into the MSCONFIG General/Advanced and had checked the "Limit memory to 32 mb" box. Check this out.Your K6 should support either 256 or 512 mb.
