User accounts on 2 hard drives?

I have a HP Pavilion with three 160GB hard drives and XP Home. The C:-drive is getting pretty stuffed due to that the "Shared Document"-folder (C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents) is containing lots and lots of music and pictures. But there is about 140GB available on my -drive.

Now I could move the "Shared Document"-folder to the -drive but I expect that in order to maintain the function of i.e. the "Shared Document"-folder I see when opening "My Computer" I would need to change one or two search paths in the registry?

Is there any bright soul who could give me some direction on how to do this?

I'm a new user and wanted to post a comment on this subject but couldn't figure out how to do so other than using the 'Answer' button, so here goes.

I've been searching for an answer to DEAKB's question for ages and was enthused to have found your p.j.hutchinson's reply, which seemed very plausible; however, it turns out that Windows automatically resets the 'Common Documents' registry key in HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders at reboot, so despite changing the drive location, it's stuck at C.

Thanks for the help!

Well obviously I cant rate your answer since it's a comment(?!) but I found the same issues as you. And I'm happy to hear more than me looking for this.

And there is no comment functionality on the T?ch Q&A (be nice if there was though). I'll see if I can find that blog-post I mentioned above. It'd be nice to know why it returns to the old path for the shared documents.

Here's another possible answer (courtsey of K.Miller MVP):
Open Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) and navigate to:
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]

In the right-pane, double-click "Common Documents". The default value is:

Change the value to the redirected folder, say 'D:\SharedDocs'

To redirect the Shared Music, Shared Pictures and Shared Video folder along with Shared Documents, try this:

[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]

In the right-pane:
- Create a REG SZ named CommonMusic and set it's path
- Create a REG SZ named CommonPictures and set it's path
- Create a REG SZ named CommonVideo and set it's path

No space in between these words (CommonVideo, CommonMusic, CommonVideo).
One space in between (Common Documents)

Logoff and login back. See that the Shared folders are now redirected successfully.

Thanks p.j.h. Sorry about the lagtime for my rating but summers here and theres more to life than computers (even if they make a good runner-up for my private top-10-things-I'd-like-to-do-during-summertime. But as you may noticed thecomputer didn't make it yet.)
