That was my first idea, but there might be a way to make it tidier.

You are not helpful, you know?

I do know. Because your question is out of the ballpark.

How can one be helpful in advising on how to execute a really bad idea?

If a user can reset a password (via the logon screen??), then the user isn't a user, and you may as well not have passwords at all.

If this were possible, MS would have put the information in their documentation, and would have put a little link on the login screen for "Reset my password - I forgot it".

This one too.

Am using it right now, works great.

Exactly.

Another tool would have to be installed across the network. (But we don't want to bother the administrator, so let's see how this goes.)

"The user accesses ReACT via an account that is secured with Group Policy."

Ah. So they'll remember that account name when they can't remember the p/w they were using last week? How do your users remember it? Post-it under the mouse pad?
