On your 2000 Pro computer, go to Control Panel –> Users and Passwords –> Add the Win9x users who need access to your shared stuff.

The problem is not security because one user windows 95 can not to connect to my computer but that same user from a computer windows 2000 can not.

After you create the users in your control panel, set the permissions on the individual folders for each user.

I had this with win98 machines and w2k machines. To resolve the issue I installed the netbeui protocol on all of the machines and the problem disappeared.

      Try it and see.

simply set the “enable” flag to guest account. By default, Windows2000 disable guest account. To enable it, use Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Local Users and Groups

      hi,
jus a quick simple question the cable u are using to connect to the machines – is it striaght cat5 or is it crossed cat5 ?
if you have a straight cable you wont get any connection at all as you are sending data to another send port creating a major collission which will result in no data transfer – a crossed cable sends data to a recieve port and vice versa.

check the cable you are using is a crossed cable an not a normal cable.

Its been a while since I’ve used 95, but try the following on the Windows 2000 machine: Add the NetBEUI protocol. Alternatively, see if you can add TCP/IP to the Windows 95 machine, and see if there is an option to enable NetBEUI over TCPIP.
