Virtual folder in Windows Explorer

By icelemon ·
hello is there a way to map a folder as a virtual folder on a same drive?

for example:

\folder1\
will have the same content as

\folder2\
and whenever i update [folder1], [folder2] will be updated and vice versa

i am an animator using 3dsmax
i get annoyed when 3dsmax asks for map folders when network rendering
so it will be great if there is a solution to this one

i am asking because there is this software call "GMail Drive shell extension" and this might be some of the same solution?

any help will be great!

Aahh

Right, I see! Doh!

Anyway, what are you saying? Does 3dsmax open a file in folder1 and then have to render it to a different folder? You must excuse my ignorance - I have never even sniffed an animation program. One reason I can think of for doing this may be to prevent corruption of your original data.

I don't know what your level of expertise is, but maybe you can find a solution here, if you have not seen it already:

Or the highend3d forums could lead you to a satisfactory solution. Have you also tried posting this question in the Software section of TechRep's Q&A?

i gotta hand it to you
thanks. ive been on the site quite often to be honest haha
its 3dsmax when rendering it asks for map directories from time to time
tho i can get away from just copy the same stuff from one folder to another
but it also means i will have two same copies of stuff
so if this trick can be achieved in someway might give a boost on disk space saving.

so thanks, allow me to hand you the big 1000 bucks
haha i hope its real money tho
you've been a great help! ^_____^
