VXD VMM Errors

By ciwong ·
Anybody ever come across this "blue screen of death" error message?

A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:C0005338 in VXD VMM (01) +00004338. The current application will be terminated.

Happens when logging onto a network (Netware Client) just after entering name & password etc. Has also occurred when logging off too.

Machine is AMD K6-III 450, 128RAM, 4.3HDD running Win98(2nd) and Office'97.

I've checked the M$ Knowledge database, but didn't find anything... that matched.
Any clues?

Same machine craps out of Word aswell... occassionly - "illegal operation" Could this be related?

Hi,

I forgot a step to get to the System File Checker, here is the correct way.

Click on Start, go to Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and Click on System Information. Click on Tools and click on System File Checker.

Good luck!

VMM - virtual memory manager - vxd - virtual device driver. Sounds like you have bad memory that is occasionally accessed while trying to load a dynamic driver into the memory and crashes the computer. Try replacing your memory.

This error may be caused by your Virus Scan. If you are attempting to use Mcaffee 4.5 uninstall it and install the previous version with the most recent .dat file (409. This should resolve the issue.
