Was buying computer with 64 bit Vista a huge mistake?

By jstewartjr ·
I recently purchased a Dell desktop Studio, 23" monitor, CPU i7 920, 6GB Ram, Vista Home Premium 64 bit. The offer was so good I could not pass it up even though I know very little about 64 bit systems. Now none of my four printers will work (KonicaMinolta 1350 Laser, HP-7410, HP-3310, HP-950) because there are no Vista Drivers available and I wonder what will happen when I try to install the programs I am currently using on my XP Pro 32 bit system. Will the 64 bit Vista emulate 32 bit automatically and run my 32 bit programs OK or is there something specific I have to do? Advice please!

why all the fuss

by russ647 In reply to Was buying computer with ...

I run vista ultimate 64 on an amd 3ghz quad,8 gigs ram, 1tb raid hd, sp2, plus flash drives, feedback joystick,g-15 keyboard,hp oj g85, bb software, been up continually since sp2, before that 6 months. what is all the fuss, windows uses 2 gigs on one core and one for 32 bit @&$%, and two 64bit, I can defrag and viris and play music while surfing the net and it doesn't skip a beat. I guess I'm lucky!

I just can't string words together like you can.
And on this occasion, I'm afraid to tell you I didn't even try, unfortunate as it is.

edited for spelling
