By Oz_Media ·
The If you're a Geek contest closed on Dec. 5th, I assume was reviewed but who won whaqt and where can the winning results be found??

I guess

by Oz_Media In reply to So, who else?

You could review the discussion and match it up, but they've left out the names to stop any predjudice in voting I suppose. Not that mine doesn't stand out anyway. I think it would be pretty easy to figure out who wrote mine by the references used.

My name is in my list

I put my name in my list of Geek examples, and no one thought to remove it.

I can't help it....

I am just embracing my Geek-ness!
Because let's be realistic here: when one of your favorite pastimes is to answer computer-related questions on some website for no compensation other than 1) the knowledge of helping to fix problems and 2) points that don't mean anything, then you are very much a geek!
But my wife loves me, my family loves me, and my friends know they can ask me their computer questions.
I guess that is all that matters in life, eh?

Perhaps I should go back to the Q&A and give some of these discussions a rest for a while. Not only did my Q&A inactivity help you (and dklippert) go flying by me on the list, but I've probably torqued a few people in the process. (Of course your vast knowledge and unselfish donation of your time had a lot to do with your meteoric rise on the list. Great job!)

Yes OZ I got the e-mail last night from Judy

With a voting URL but it is easy to work out who are the select group as they have just listed the suggestions but with all the spelling corrected Geek selection {1} as none of us are all that interested in the spelling anyway after all we all get the idea of what we where trying to say don't we?

But it will prove interesting to see who actually ends up with the title of Super Geek. Good Luck to all the finalists and hope you do the best.

Contest finalists voting ends this weekend!

by jmottl In reply to What happened to the If y ...

Hi!
We announced the finalists in the 'top geek' and 'geek definition' during the holiday weeks and had it up on the door intermittently since then. I just plugged the contest voting link back up there as the voting ends this Sunday. Here is is also:

http://gmi-mr.com/20/survey/s.phtml?sn=15533
We did leave the names off so the voting public would avoid voting for someone they knew automatically... but you can determine who the finalists are by checking against the original contest dicussions
And yes, we emailed the finalists today to ensure they knew they had made the cut. It was really hard to narrow down the finalists so we thought they all deserved something extra -- top geek finalists got a email sig, and the geek definition finalists received a certificate.
It's been a great project and I'm excited to find out Monday who the top winners are. And, in my eyes, every member who participated and who voted are also big winners! Thanks for making it such a great effort!!!

Oh Judy and here I was thinking

by HAL 9000 Moderator In reply to Contest finalists voting ...

That they where throw away lines to get a laugh and make some of the other readers feel better about themselves and let them know that they are not alone out there and there are a lot of us.

I didn't even read the first listing properly and realise that there was a compition running otherwise I might have tried a bit harder to come up with some better ideas instead of the one liners that I used but thay seem to have worked well enough and thanks very much for the Signature I'll use it with pride. But he I a "Geek" anyway so who cares?

The voting is still open until the 18 January US time so you can get in there and vote for you're favourite ideas.
