What next?

I have to wonder just how badly people dislike their lives if this sort of thing is possible.

Reminds me

by seanferd In reply to What next?

of times I'd gone off to visit friends for a couple weeks, in interesting places, having no major responsibilities for that time. Vacation, as it were.

Comes time to go back home, and I feel... heartbroken. Not so much depressed, I suppose. Not just that I would miss friends again, but miss the new and interesting environment. I'm sure missing the near-total freedom fits in as well.

Ever been sad you finished a book?

I have.

It's how I know which books are worth reading again. I put them away for years, then pull them out again if something reminds me to. Years make the most amazing difference in books.

It's the whole 'depression' thing that bugs me, I 'spose. Depression cripples.

No, it's not just that. It's the visual thing. I can read horror books without having nightmares. Watch the movie made from the book that I've already read, and I get nightmares. Weird.
But it makes me wonder about how visuals affect us, the power they hold in our lives. Avatar is, if hype is to be believed, a powerful visual input.

It was a good movie

but a movie, non the less.

Don't see why people overreact to little things like this.

It's really nothing new.

After 'Jaws' came out I remember, badly, that some teenage girl was panic-stricken after watching it and she lived in Iowa. Sometimes people don't need much to push them over the edge when they're already leaning that way.
