Which Gigabyte Sata driver to use?

    by mikegbyte ·

I’m setting up a new machine with windows 7 x64. When installing I get prompted with no cd/DVD device driver. And have to scan for a driver. I assume it wants the Sata controller driver. Browsing to the MB cd for the driver I get one compatible result but windows won’t take it. I downloaded the newest version of the driver pack and same thing. I got pass this once with an intel driver but then the windows install failed and I get the same message now even with that driver. Right now I’m formatting the hd just to make sure that install didn’t leave behind some junk. What driver am I suppose to use none show up as compatible anymore.

    Motherboard
    Gigabyte p67a-ud4-b3

    Bios
I tried both achi and IDE legacy

Tempted just to install ubunto just so I can use my build.

You can try one of these it should be what you want/need but it may also be a BIOS Setting

Intel Management Engine Interface or Intel INF installation

The BIOS on the other hand should have the SATA Port 0 -3 Set to Enabled and the Optical Drive should be set to one of the 4 SATA Connectors in the 0 – 3 Range. If there is a RAID Setting this should be set to Disabled unless you are using a RAID Array.

If you are shown Missing Drivers in the Device Management Console you can use Unknown Device Identifier to find out what you need a driver for and it’s free here

I would try making a bootable USB Win7 install drive. If you can get Windows installed you should be able to at least get generic drivers from MS update. And those drivers which it won’t accept during installation may work once Windows is running
