Who still has to do their taxes yet?

By jimmy-jam ·
Who's with me?

I was waiting for someone to post something about it. Here in the great US of A it is somewhat of a nation folli-day. When millions of procrastinators (myself included) rush to file their taxes before the mid-night deadline. So who will be doing their takes with me this evening?

Plum forgot

about filing state taxes! If it weren't for the Tax Day Tea Parties being plastered on the news..I'd have clean forgot about it today.

Like Palmie, I did my Fed online back in Jan and the family has since spent it.

I'm filing the State online too - if only the server weren't clogged with a ton of last-minuters doing the same thing!

I'm working downtown...

...and when I went out to lunch, there were literally thousands of protesters within a few blocks (I'm equidistant to state and federal buildings on Clark St.).

I haven't seen it this crowded downtown since the Obama celebration.

Filing on line in SC

by CharlieSpencer In reply to Plum forgot

Until last year, SC had a great on-line filing system run by the state for free. For some reason they discontinued it. I sent an e-mail to the head of the tax commission pointing out why I thought this was a bad idea. I receive a nice reply from the web development team agreeing with me, but there was nothing they could do.

You can file SC returns electronically, but you have to use a third-party service and pay a fee. I'll be damned for all eternity before I pay for the privilege of filing taxes. Let the state waste time and money reading, processing, and filing my paper return.

I'm with you there Palmetto

NM doesn't have a good online system or at least they didn't last year. I didn't look at it this year but I will look at it again next year. I did my fed taxes online again as I have done for the past several years and the state taxes are pretty straight forward so filing a return isn't too much of a hassle.

That deadline

by jdclyde In reply to Who still has to do their ...

is only for people that OWN taxes.

If you are getting a return, the deadline means nothing.

With my boys as deductions, I will be getting a nice chunk, like always. I know, I missed out on 25 cents interest had I put the money in a savings account, so friggen what?

I will be filing next weak sometime.

Everyone hear that Tax Freedom day is another month back this year?

As long as you are not "feeling" weak that's OK. :)
