Why would anyone feed babies and young children bleach?

    Locked

    by ansugisalas ·

Turns out, the latest anti-science trend in dealing with Autism is giving the kids an ominously named “Miracle Mineral Solution”.

    Bleaching away what ails you

The thing is, the main ingredient in that stuff is a chlorite. When it gets into contact with an acid (like what the stomach is full of) it turns into the same exact stuff that we know as bleach.
Seriously? I understand that people are desperate, but BLEACH?!?
And those kids, having autism, aren’t even able to plead for help or express their pain and suffering.

Don’t look like no science I’m familiar with. It’s things like this that reflect the need to limit peoples “freedoms”. The kids shouldn’t be burdened by the parents stupidity. Parents aren’t “free” to murder their children horribly!

I suspect those parents also have no form of medical insurance or options for assistance. They’re desperate and grabbing at straws, and this snake oil may be all they can afford. They’re likely not chemists and aren’t aware of the effects of the product.

Unless the ‘anyone’ you refer to are the manufacturers. In that case, I have no clue.

      • #2426757

As for the first, there is no cure.

        by ansugisalas ·

In reply to To answer your title question

So it’s not just people who can’t afford it.
As for the manufacturers, it is to make money, of course. Why else market an off-the shelf chemical as a miracle cure? I do wonder why they picked something poisonous, though. Do they want to instigate eugenics? Another quack is subjecting autistic kids to medical castration, so that may be a factor.
Of course, anti-vaxxers are using the spectre of autism to promote death in the non-autistic populace, so lethal quackery abounds.

Cures for malaria, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, shingles, warts going hard and dropping off, and AIDS patients in debilitated conditions going back to work. all have been attributed to Miracle Mineral solution.

A teenage girl, overweight with depression and failure to develop breasts, was given Miracle Mineral Supplement. The next day her breasts started to grow. After another dose 4 days later she had the first period after 6-months, her breasts were fully developed, her depression lifted, and she started losing weight.

Helps with toothache, and makes stored heavy metals soluble so that they can more easily be expelled.

Drink for abscessed teeth, infected gums, pyorrhea, sore throat, sinus infections, inflammatory and infective skin conditions and burns. And for psoriasis, scleroderma, leukoderma/vitiligo and alopecia or autoimmune-related baldness, dribnk and rub on.

For bowel cancer or inflammatory bowel diease, drink it AND use it as an enema.

so, how does it work? The main beneficial effect with autoimmune diseases may be due to an ability of sodium chlorite to control the pleomorphic microbes which are not only a root cause of autoimmune diseases but also of cancer.

Oh, and it kills cold and influenza viruses.

I got the whole list from two websites in two minutes. I didn’t even print the full list as to what the proponents claimed it can do. But I did think that the piece about the boobies would give a clue to the fact that I was being a trifle disingenuous. For what it’s worth, I was a clinical biochemist and was and still am a major sceptic where “alternative” therapies are concerned.

You know, I could provide peer-reviewed articles if I searched for them. They are quite common on this sort of snake oil and I know this because I have been in this sort of discussion before! What you have to do is to specify the journals that they are sourced from.

I saw an old add the other day for a Toothache cure apparently several drops of Liquid Cocaine works just as well but has added side benefits. :^0

What really concerns me is how they apply this stuff IV as that’s more than slightly concerning. 😉

Though applied as a Enema it’s most defiantly going to make the Colon and Rectum clean. Many females pay a fortune to have that done to them to remove the marks from that area.

aren’t even able to plead for help or express their pain and suffering.

      by aidemzo_adanac ·

In reply to Why would anyone feed babies and young children bleach?

I think there maybe some very severe cases where that was true but, having known dozens of autistic people in my life, that’s not the case for most. Most people with autism are merely years behind their true age. Such as a 19 year old who’s has the metal capacity of a 12 year old. One of my closest and oldest friends has an autistic son who’s 15 but his autism only sets him back a couple of years.

So while I will not make light of the main topic, causing autistic children to create BLEACH in their stomach, it is actually extremely uncommon, from what I understand, for an autistic person to be so debilitated that they can’t scream or speak out. Of course, with the exception of babies.

The very people who they should be able to trust are the ones inflicting Pain & Suffering on them. 😉

Some real Medical treatments are bad enough as they just might do some good for the kids but Quackery like this should be jumped upon by the Authorities and give the Nut Cases more to complain about how the Government is so adversely impacting on their lives and health.

I agree, please don’t get me wrong

          by aidemzo_adanac ·

In reply to And then there are the children

I agree 110% Colin! The parents responsible for this are no better than the idiot who administers it.
I think my previous comments could have been taken as if I actually accepted it and wasn’t bothered, in reality I think is a horrific case of child abuse and anyone associated in any way needs to be taken to task

I am a parent too remember, I think this i absolutely disgusting! I’d love to find someone trying to do this, to ANY child.

My comments are merely that the article, as with all bloggers looking to make a name for themselves (which is all of them), has taken something and made it what it isn’t. Children aren’t “drinking bleach” in the sense of “have a glass son, it’s be good for you!”

This is about a few drops diluted in 500ml of water, which we can easily ingest without knowing it when dining out. Many people don’t realize that the reason they have a hangover or headache after a few pints is because the lines were not flushed properly when cleaned. A beer that is served seemingly flat, send it back as the glass isn’t rinsed properly.

We get these little bouts of what we deem food poisoning or a hangover, often due to cleaners used in food preparation.

This does not condone this freak’s practice in any way shape or form, I’m just saying that the dosages discussed and those the blogger sensationalized in order to add weight to his blog are two very different things.

Oh well, my day is finally over, time to go home crack out that hose and a bottle of bleach for my home enema!
I hear that porn stars bleach their bum’oles too, maybe I can make a few bucks….doing porn, not bleaching bum’oles!

    • #2426714

      In all fairness

      by aidemzo_adanac ·

In reply to Why would anyone feed babies and young children bleach?

I am not condoning this practice at all, however the blogger has cast a very sided view on it with his repetition of “drinking bleach” and “bleach enema”. Bleach is used safely in most kitchens, bathrooms etc. Diluted accordingly, it may upset your stomach if not properly rinsed but for the most part is completely harmless. Many restaurants etc. still use bleach to clean cooking surfaces.

The idea of a few drops mixed with 500ml of water of not anywhere NEAR as shocking as the title, “drink bleach’ suggests.

I am sure that your local McDonalds uses far more caustic solutions to clean their food prep surfaces. Is it a snake oil remedy? No doubt it certainly seems that way. Is it life threatening? I wouldn’t say so, though not exactly pleasant I’m sure. I’m not a chemist or doctor but while bleach is harmful if ingested, such a mild solution of perhaps 250 parts to one, does not seem any worse than what the local pub uses to flush the beer lines once a week.

I don’t agree it’s a working solution, I don’t agree with quack medical practices in Haiti (although many people travel the world to for Haitian quacks to rip them off with similar “healings”). I’d put him in the same barrel as a televangelist really, ‘healed in the name of the lord, hallelujah!” They are misleading people into giving up their fortunes for the cause too, though with little or no physical harm.

I think the parents of the autistic people need to be counselled, they are the ones who are following false hope and letting him practice his “medicine”.

While the article speaks of users putting a few drops of bleach in water, which is nasty but not so lethal, the actual MMS website suggests a much more potent solution, as Ansu originally described but at a very strong concentration level.
From the FDA : “”The product, when used as directed, produces an industrial bleach that can cause serious harm to health. The product instructs consumers to mix the 28 percent sodium chlorite solution with an acid such as citrus juice. This mixture produces chlorine dioxide, a potent bleach used for stripping textiles and industrial water treatment. High oral doses of this bleach, such as those recommended in the labeling, can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and symptoms of severe dehydration.”

High oral doses can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and symptoms of sever dehydration? I honestly figures it would be even worse than that, especially after reading the bloggers comments that Ansu linked to.

In Canada it was banned after causing a life-threatening reaction.

“Basically, after making it up, you take a few drops of it. You judge if you’re getting better by how nauseous you feel after taking it. ”

      Feeling sick yet?
Nope, I don’t feel too bad at all!
      Here, try some more. :p

“The inventor and chief advocate of MMS turns out to be one Jim Humble, a man who neatly contradicts the theory of nominative determinism pretty much every time he speaks.” LOL, great copy! I have a copywriter friend who writes like that.

“In a video transcribed and commented on by blogger Noodlemaz , he declares “I developed a technique for healing by touch,” before going on to compare himself favourably to Jesus (“What was it that Jesus Christ did first of all, always? He healed the sick. That is what we will be doing but there is a lot more to it than that.”)” LOL, nominative determinism, LOL, priceless!

he article just gets better and better as it goes, instead of quoting it all, here’s a link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/science/2010/sep/15/miracle-mineral-solutions-mms-bleach

The dude wants to set up a church of healing, like televangelists, who are no better that this whacko either “”Look at the Catholics. Their priests have been molesting women and children for centuries and the governments have not been able to stop it. If handled properly a church can protect us from vaccinations that we don’t want, from forced insurance, and from many things that a government might want to use to oppress us.” Okay, I guess I am gonna keep quoting it, it’s good stuff!.

He goes on to say about the 100,000 people he cured of Malaria in third world countries, but then how even THEIR missionaries had passed the word around that he was evil and that “sorta slowed things down” LOL, what a maroon!

Even in third world countries they said he was evil! This guy makes Jack Kevorkian look like Mother Theresa.

I think the nutcase is a more interesting story than the MMS he’s promoting.
