Can anyone give me a reason win 98 clients on an NT server do not always shut down.
I’ve removed sound, screensavers, etc.Topic is locked -

Yeah bit of a problem (bug) is that.
It appears that W98 is not logging off the network correctly, and i have found the only way to solve it is to remove nic from device manager and also protocols from network properties, restart and setup the client network again.Hope this helps.

I had similar problems, I would recommend not removing your NIC. Here is a link to Microsoft? This fixes the shutting down issue?

Hi,
Alternatively, you may like to create a shortcut.1) right click on desktop
2) NEW | SHORTCUT
3) type in this: “rundll.exe user.exe, exitwindows” without the opening and closing quotes.
4) click on this icon.
5) Cheers.-

Thanks but it is a training network and the users must learn proper shutdown techniques.
