Win 98 swap file fragged

By jshaw ·
Hi guys. I have Diskeeper 5.0 and when I get finished degfragging my drive I notice that my swap file (page file, whatever) is still highly defragged. Any advice on how to defrag this?

DO NOT DO ANSWER #4!!! If you don't have 128MB RAM or so, Windows will puke and give you several errors when you reboot (I did the same process with my girlfriend's computer with 64MB and spent an hour repairing damaged files that Windows butcheredwhile trying to load). If you want to do it that way, disable the virtual memory, then reboot into safe mode (F8 after the initial beep on bootup). Defrag, re-enable the virtual memory, then reboot - then you'll get the contiguous swap file you'relooking for. Also, damn skippy on the setting static sizes - Depending on RAM, set minimum to 1.5 times your RAM and maximum to 2.5 times...I have 256MB RAM on my computer, so I set minimum at 128 and max at 256 - if I have anything that needs morethan 512MB, I don't need to run it. Good luck!
