Windows 2k Startup

By A Cannady ·
We have a PC running Windows 2000 SP3 that will not start properly with the network cable attached. It gets to the "network connections" part of startup and starts to hang. After a few minutes it will go on to "applying computer settings" and thenwill go no further. If the network cable is unplugged it will start normally. Once it's at the logon window we can plug the cable back in and everything is fine.
It will start OK in safe mode.
If we uninstall the video drivers it will start OK until the second reboot when the drivers are loaded again.
We have tried four different NIC's and two video cards with no success.
To my knowledge there was nothing installed or removed; it just worked on Friday and not on Monday.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Windows 2k Startup

Solution #2 seems to have done the trick. I left the domain, deleted the computer account, and rejoined the domain. Although it still did not work, there was some improvement in the process. The last thing I did was rename the computer. It returned to normal after that.

Thanks for your help.
