    Windows 98 Boot Process

    Anyone knows the difference between the normal boot process of windows 98 and the “Shift-Restart” reboot process?I need to know what steps makes the OS in the first case that it didn’t make in the 2nd.

      It is the same for the OS but Shift-Restart” reboot process will be faster since no BIOS routine for hardware check will be run.

      Shift restart just reboots windows while restart reboots the whole computer.

      Shift – Restart doesnot reprocess the config.sys – autoexec.bat and doesnot rebuild the kernel. that is why it starts so fast.

        Am I repeating myself?? I need two lists, in the first list I need the steps which W98 makes in a normal boot, and in the second list I need the steps which W98 makes with “Shift-Restart” boot. Thank you.

      The process is very long to list it step by setp.the process for win95 is almost the same for win98
