If you have a clean install of Windows NT and have already installed the sp5 (cant install sp6a because of other software issues and still can not share the drive what is the problem and how do you fix it?

Windows NT sharing

Two things.

First - If a service does not start - re install the latest service pack. If you have corrupted dlls or other system files this will fix the problem.

Second - I used to harrass a friend of mine by turning off sharing on his nt server.
I assume you are working on an NT server.
You can get it going again this way:

Open Policy Editor goto File create a New Policy. This will put two icons in the Editor window. Double click the "Default Computer" icon goto windows NT nework / Sharing. Here make sure the create shares option has a check black check mark on a white background not grey. The greyed out may or may not work but the black check on a white background does work. A message should appear in the lower box indicating default shares will be created automatically.

Save your policy and reboot. If this doesn't work there is a reg hack also I just don't remember it right now.
