    wireless connection is connected but…

    hey
    I have just bought a new wireless device for hooking up more computer to the box thing. Sorry Im not great with computers etc, and according to my computer, the computer is connected to the internet. But when I try to go on websites or even just open up my IE browser it comes up with page cannot be displayed.
    I have no idea why. Any clues.
    please help Im desperate!

      Hi,
      Firstly check if you have a valid IP address from the wireles router. Goto start, select run, type in cmd and you’ll get a dos window up. Type ipconfig and hit return, you should get up a bunch of info on your ipaddress etc including a default gateway. To check your computer can talk to the router ping the default gateway address with for example ping 192.168.0.1
      If you are connected you’ll see a response.
      If you are connected OK you need to check your connection settings in internet explorer, Click on tools, internet options, connections, check the box never dial a connection, click on LAN settings and check the box automatically detect settings. This should now work. OK?
